If you are considering getting your HGV licence, you’re sure to know that undertaking a HGV driving course is required. Without a course, you aren’t able to receive the training necessary to drive large vehicles safely on UK roads. However, were you aware that there are a few different HGV driving courses to choose from?

HGV Driving Courses Available in Nottinghamshire

Rather than offering one course to everyone, we offer more specific courses. This ensures you receive the exact training needed for the type of driving you will be doing. For example, if you are going to be driving a LGV or HGV with a small trailer, there’s a course. Similarly, if you are going to be driving a vehicle that weighs a lot more than a standard HGV, there’s a different course.

At Nottinghamshire Driving School we offer the full range of HGV driving courses, meaning we’re able to offer professional training for whatever you need. All of the courses differ slightly and are aimed at driving slightly different vehicles, but each one has the same high level of training and professionalism from start to finish. The HGV driving courses available include:

Category C Driving Course: This course is for anyone who wants to drive LGV and HGV rigid vehicles over 3,500kg, with or without a trailer weighing up to 750kg.

Category C1 Driving Course: The category C1 driving course is required if you want to drive any vehicle that weighs between 3,500kg and 7,500kg, with or without a trailer weighing up to 750kg.

Category C1 + E Driving Course: This course is ideal if you want to tow a trailer that weighs more than 750kg, as long as the maximum authorised mass of the vehicle and trailer doesn’t exceed 12,000kg.

Category C + E Driving Course: This course is for anyone who wants to drive an Arctic vehicle, or a Wagon and Drag. As the largest vehicle you can drive in the transport industry, it’s important that the course is undertaken.

Booking onto a HGV driving course may be daunting, especially as the chances are you haven’t ever completed a similar course before. However, it can be a brilliant learning experience when you have a team of experts, great resources and top of the range vehicles at your disposal.
